Improving Mobility and Recovery in Skilled Nursing Facilities

At NABR Medical Group, our Orthopedic Specialty Service brings expert, non-interventional musculoskeletal care directly into skilled nursing facilities. We focus on accurate diagnosis, functional recovery, and proactive management — helping residents regain mobility, reduce pain, and avoid unnecessary procedures. By working closely with nursing staff, therapy teams, and primary care providers, we deliver seamless, patient-centered orthopedic support that improves outcomes and enhances quality of life.

We provide orthopedic consults and assessments without duplicating general care responsibilities. We actively communicate with other providers to maximize outcomes.

Waiting Room

Unlike other orthopedic services, our primary focus is to assist patients in the skilled nursing facility.  We do not perform surgeries and we do not hold outpatient clinic.  This allows us to prioritize patient retention for hospitals and outside orthopedic specialists and focus on patient outcomes rather than patient retention.  We serve our patients without impacting existing facility and hospital relationships.

On top of monitoring wounds, and providing timely interventions, we assist with care coordination in ensuring that patients receive the appropriate care after their skilled nursing stay to help reduce readmissions.

We bill insurance independently, and document within the skilled nursing facility's electronic health record.

Real Life Cases

A patient with avascular necrosis noted on an x-ray ordered by another specialist was initially recommended for ER evaluation. Instead, our team at NABR Health Orthopedic Solutions reviewed the imaging and determined that emergency care was not needed. The patient was referred directly to an orthopedic surgeon for total hip arthroplasty—saving time, stress, and healthcare resources.
